Pistols in Public
This NRA CCW course is designed for those who intend to or may be on the fence about carrying a pistol discreetly while in public. There are a lot of variables to think about and we want to help you better understand how to carry safely and legally. We want to help you be more informed so that you can be better prepared in case you are forced to defend yourself or loved ones with deadly force.
In this course, we will cover:
– firearm safety
– the mindset needed
– responding to an attack
– dealing with the aftermath
– different ways to carry and conceal
This course will not include: pistol parts, cleaning, storage, ammo, or live fire.
If you are new to shooting and are eager to learn the ins-and-outs about pistols and pistol shooting, I strongly encourage you to check out our NRA Basic CCW 101 – pistols for beginners class.
This course is approximately 7 hours and will be conducted in its entirety at the Veterans Hall in Waukee, IA.

The class certificate received after successful completion of this course does satisfy Iowas educational requirement for an initial Concealed Carry Permit or renewal application.

Course Prerequisites:
– You must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Person – a natural person who is a lawful permanent resident as defined in 8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(20) or who is a protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) to participate in this course.
– Be qualified to possess a firearm as defined by applicable federal, state or local law
– Be of good repute, come with a good attitude, and be ready to learn
